Who needs to watch the season finale of CSI: Miami when this is going on here... -
Re: DNA Matched
I recently found out one of the cops was 1 of the 2 WDM cops I went to the UI/PSU game with. He is a super good guy and great cop.

Based on the facts that I know, the police did what they had to do...irregardless of the DNA evidence.

I agree DNA does nothing to justify the death. I was just posting the link so that everyone could know that the attacker was off the streets. I know I will sleep easier knowing that.

I'm glad the guy is off the streets and I will sleep better at night knowing that.

While it is probably more palatable to most people that a guy who likely perpetrated the crimes in question was shot, it doesn't forgive the cops for shooting the guy out of hand. This is ridiculous. All signs point to this guy being guilty and the punishment fitting the crime. He wouldn't asnwer the door, the cops found an unlocked door, came in, and the suspect had a gun. That's enough to get shot in an apartment, broad daylight, back alley, anything. These cops risk their life everyday in dealing with the biggest group of scumbags Des Moines has to offer and all you want to do is question their authority. They saw a gun pulled, they did what they had to do. They're trained to do that. We ask them to be trained to do that. We NEED them to be trained to do that. Moral of the story is: don't have a gun in your hand when cops break into your apartment.

I'm glad the guy is off the streets and I will sleep better at night knowing that. I agree with this and would add that IMHO the DNA justifies his eventual death anyway. I'm all for a fair trial had he lived, but the list of charges against him should warrant his death. He would have been facing AT LEAST, 6 breaking and entering charges, 3 forcible rape charges and assault with a deadly weapon (the guy he held at knifepoint while he raped his girlfriend).
Also, as usual in cases like this, there are additional victims - his girlfriend and daughter who have to deal with this.

Totally agree with you plus the cops didn't break in, they let him know they were there, and he knew they were there. How many of you randomly walk down the stairs with a gun when police open the door and yell, "hey, we have a warrant! police are here."
I take the incident as the guy knew what was going on, and it was his own "suicide."
I'm also glad Jessie Jackson didn't get on some TV camera and make accusations about the WDM police, then have his words typically back fire on him a week later.

Not to mention that DNA evidence isn't the be-all-end-all in terms of evidence. CSI, and shows like it, has done an incredible disservice to the justice system over the years.
WTH are you sticking up for this D-bag for? He pulled a gun Einstein....... That will get you shot if you were being stopped for stealing a pack of bubble gum from a gas station. If an idiot is stupid enough to pull a gun on a trained police officer then he is stupid enough to shoot them. That leaves the Cop with not a lot of choice.
That's what the police have reported. It isn't necessarily the truth.
This is a stretch that is not even worth replying too, but whatever....I had to anyway. There is more then just WDM officers involved in this investigation, DNA testing, State investigators, etc. Do you actually thing it is a collective objective of all agencies involved to cover this up when the shooting was totally justified regardless of the outcome of the DNA testing.
I tend to agree that if he was coming at them with a gun drawn, the cops did what they had to do.
Then what the hell are you sticking up for the POS for? Wow, here's a comparison. Using an article where a couple of punk kids admit to being combative and non compliant to a rapists who has raped 3 woman and had the stones to hold one husband at knifepoint while he raped his wife....and...who beat the crap out a mom of a daughter the same rapist intended on making a 4th victim. He's lucky the cops took him out as they did instead of having a husband/boyfriend/father of a potential victim find him in their house... -

And the highlighted is all that need be said. The whole idea that the PD are in any way, shape or form in the wrong - is completely and utterly absurd.
Some people are convinced otherwise - but will provide no explanation what the alternative was.
Again - ridiculous.

Were they plain clothes detectives or just your every day officers? I could see a few people on this board alone grabbing their gun if someone in street clothes came into their house, even if they identified themselves as police.
