Re: Best Guitar Solo Ever
If you've seen AC/DC on their current tour, Angus puts on one hell of a solo during/after Whole Lotta Rosie/Let There Be Rock.

Keith is known as the best rhythm guitar player ever. He takes a few solos when the cameras are rolling but usually leaves that to Ronnie and to Mick T. before 1975.

Certainly not #1 but George Thorogood deserves some sort of honorable mention...

I think maybe because it's best solo and not soloist. Because Satriani and Vai and great solo artists that haven't even been breathed yet that would belong in the discussion also.

Tommy Emmanuel, best guitarist I've ever seen...

Voodoo Chile, Jimi Hendrix.

I'm old and sappy to begin with, so I'll submit Gary R of REO Speedwagon for his guitar work in Flying Turkey Trot, 157 Riverside Avenue (largely ruined by Kevin C's vocals) and several other pre-"High Infidelity" songs...

Gary was/is very good. Too bad they let Kevin C have so much control and they quit playing rock n roll.
Another great American guitarist that no one knows about was Eddy Shaver (Billy Joe's son). Too bad the H got him.
