The course at Ewing Park is probably my favorite so far (as long as it isn't flooded). If you ever make Ottumwa or Burlington, they both have very nice 18 hole courses with lots of interesting shots. Keep it from being boring.

The course at Ewing Park is probably my favorite so far (as long as it isn't flooded). I think the fact that these types (which I definitely once was) flock to Carol Marty is further evidence of it's superiority over the ISU course. That one is right off Campus, and gets far less use. Why? Because the City's course is just better than the University's. I always found the University course to have a lot of dirt in the fareways compared to Carrol Marty. I never really got past that...

Re: Disc Golf Courses
Favorite course by far: Gateway in Ames. Love the elevation changes.
Freddy in Ames: fun, easy
Grandview in DSM: fun but takes awhile to walk to each hole
Saylorville: Hardest course I've played
Big Creek: Very fun
Ankeny: average but fun...21 holes so you get more playing in
Waukee: pretty vanilla, not many trees
WDM: fun, easy but only 9 holes.

I've played the city park course in Ottumwa and it is excellent, especially the one where the shot goes over the ravine that you must traverse by bridge. I haven't played the Indian Hills CC course yet, but I plan on it next time I'm there.
I think Carrol Marty and the ISU DG course are kind of Apples and Oranges. The ISU course is very technical and over 50% of it is in the woods (which is why there is a lot of dirt in the fareways). Carrol Marty, I think, is more popular among the above mentioned crowd because it large and open and you can get a good tan. It also has a lot more open holes where you can really chuck the disc hard (which is fun too).

Just don't play the Southeastern CC course in West Burlington. It's basically a few football field sized space with baskets set up for the holes. I shot like 16 under on 18 for that course and don't consider myself that good

Re: Disc Golf Courses
true that. i've never played it, cause my younger brother said it's dumb as hell. baskets out in the middle of a huge lawn. I drive past it occasionally though, and it doesn't look all that appealing
If you're in that area, Fairfield and Mt. Pleasant each have a nice 9 hole course. They're pretty easy, but fun to play. When I go home and want to put in a quick round with my brother, that's usually where we go
