Has Oh Brother Where Out Thou? been mentioned?

Name a horror film that came before it that had as much impact on future filmmaking or pop culture in general with the exception of maybe The Exorcist...I'll give you that the film is polarizing but to discount it as not one of the best/most important films in the last ten years is asinine.

It was unique, but honestly I cant see anything from it that really paved the way. If the shakey cam effect was never invented would it really devastate the movie industry? Please explain what it brought to the table. Im not trying to antagonize you, I seriously would like to know. Educate me.

8 Mile? 8 Mile. Are you serious?
Borat? Seriously?
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Borat from a comedic standpoint, but that was by NO means a good movie. Neither was 8 Mile.

Educate me. The fact that it cost $20,000 to make and grossed near $250,000,000 makes it important because it proves that story and unique and creative camera and sound work are way more important than marquis names and billion dollar fx.
That and I can't remember a film before it that used what is now known as "viral marketing" to promote itself leading to many techniques used to create buzz for movies before they hit the street....*see cloverfield.

This is where the credit is due. That crew was able to get their message out for independent film. The fact that so many believed the movie to be a true story was in itself genius and goes to show you some people will believe anything. I cant tell you how many people ran out to see this thing just because they thought it was real. The movie itself really didnt do anything. Suspense, lack of music to help build such suspense, and creepy sound effects are nothing new and innovative.

Moulin Rouge
This Film is Not Yet Rated
The Pianist
The Passion of the ******
