Listening to KXNO while driving for drivers ed. Topic was sports hangovers. I didn't hear any high school or lower hangovers. Got me thinking, what high school sports hangovers do you have?
Mine would be last year. Ankeny freshmen football team against Dowling. We (Ankeny) had one minute to go 60 yards and score a touchdown for the win. We threw the ball on, it was deflected and caught on one side of the field. We gained 30 yards, only to have it taken back because of an inadvertent whistle. The ref that blew that whistle was on the other side of the field. He couldn't have seen the catch because of the mass of linemen in the way. He had no authority to end the play. We couldn't gain any yards after that, and had to take our only loss of the season.
I guess it could kind of be considered a hangover coming off the high of the 30 yd play and then getting it called back. But that really is reaching. I would consider a sports hangover to be losing to a team you should beat after a thrilling victory the game before.
When I was in my Jr. year of highschool in 1997, we played Turkey Valley up there. We were up by 4 points with 3 seconds left in a Blizzard. They were on their own 35 yard line, and they threw a hail mary. It was a post route, and myself, the Free Safety, and the other cornerback (who was my cousin) hit each other out of the way all jumping to knock the ball down allowing the reciever to catch the ball and run in for the touchdown. Worst feeling I've ever had playing sports....

Maybe my definition of a sports hangover is different than yours, but i wouldn't consider that a sports hangover -- more of bad luck
I drank a handle of Jack at the ISU/Bama Independence Bowl, puked on some old dude next to me, pooped in my draws, passed out for 20 minutes...all before kickoff
