Re: Tornado in Metro
People do realize that TV broadcast isn't like internet, that everyone has to see the same thing. I think for the safety of others, we can tolerate a little inconvenience.

Can we agree to call the storms CYCLONES?

Re: Tornado in Metro
Well this is creepy - We're in WDM, watching Casino Royal on TNT, and our weather radio has been unplugged since last winter. I didn't know anything about the storms until now. I think I'll go plug that in now.

I agree....but I also think the 4+ hours of constant coverage last year was a bit ridiculous as well.

There are a lot of people who live 60+ miles from the metro who still depend on those news stations for weather coverage. The DM news channels have to cover the alerts for all their viewing area, even if it's nowhere near the metro.

I'm in the Iowa City bubble. I expect nothing severe tonight.

Re: Tornado in Metro
I was driving northwest on Beaver Avenue near Camp Dodge about 7PM this evening. The road follows a high ridge betwen the Beaver Creek and Des Moines River valley and provides a great view to the west where we saw a wall cloud and funnel several miles away.
I many have broken a few speed limits trying to get north of the storm and into our basement.

Re: Tornado in Metro
I chased this storm and missed the tornadoes, but saw some cool storm structure. My camera isn't good enough to take nice pictures, so I don't have a lot to show that's worth showing. I really need to invest in a nicer one... but I really need to graduate first and get a real job!
