Re: Tornado in Metro
Whoa, a tornado just crossed highway 141 near Grimes headed towards Johnston.

Re: Tornado in Metro
I wish my basement here in Ankeny was finished.
By the way... someone needs to tell me how to use my OTA antenna when my Directv goes out.

I can see the end of the heavy clouds here at the Johnston/Urbandale line near 86th St. No tornado. The air temperature did drop about 10 degrees which is pretty cool. No pun intended.
Also the power just went out for about 5 seconds while I was typing this. That is when it's nice to have a laptop!

Re: Tornado in Metro
Just a question, but who else is ****** off that the local channels interrupted regularly scheduled programming to bring me the message of a tornado that is nowhere near me?

I do find that to be annoying when it happens to me...it seems like now, with the digital subchannels, they should be able to do both. Maybe they can switch the other programming onto the x.2 channel, and do the weather on the main channel, since it can be very life-threatening.
All the same, I don't really think you should be ******. Think about if it were you in the way of this system, like I have been in north Urbandale/Johnston, where I think we missed the tornado by about a mile. After Parkersburg last year, I don't think any Iowans or people in the Midwest can honestly be ****** and feel justified letting everyone know that when there's a real tornado on the ground. Basically, just keep it to yourself and be respectful.
My first ISU basketball game - Fred Hoiberg was on the court.
My first ISU football game - Paul Rhoads was on the sidelines.
But they hadn't yet reached their full potential.
SO PROUD that things have come full circle. #cyclONEnation -
