the only thing left to do is trade in your other vehicle for another mini-van ... and all your pants for mini-skirts. then the transition will be complete.

    Re: Bought a minivan today

I traded my 4Runner in for a car AND I kept my 5x10 utility trailer just so later when we go to get a vehicle we can eliminate the possibility of a minivan in lieu of an SUV we can pull the trailer with. I'm hoping for a 4dr pickup though.

Also, we never said it was cool, we said it was convenient. Raising kids isn't an excuse, it's a fact. You're probably the same guy that would tell me that I'm insecure or compensating for something if I told you we drove a nice car.

Come talk to me in a few years.

Are you serious? What other vehicle would you comfortably travel with 7-8 people for more than a couple hours? Then, you can take out the seats and haul 4X8 sheets of whatever. I can't afford a truck with the miles that we drive to/from work, and I can't afford a third vehicle. I have a car and a minivan and it works well for me.

As to the children part, have you ever traveled any distance with three kids in the back of a car or 4 door truck? Might as well just sign up for a psychiatrist when you buy the vehicle.

You also remind me of some of my college friends who, after I got married and bought a 4 door car, were disappointed in me. They couldn't understand why I got a 4 door and not a coupe. Very immature and shortsighted on their part.

I don't think you quite get this ...

Ok, minivans are fun to make fun of because they are a symbol of men moving from the young/single life to the drudgery of old-man-marriedom...

The humor lies in that it is implied that they are good economic decisions, however they are also "hella lame" to the younger set. Once you cross that bridge you never come back type of thing...

ok ... see, now it isn't funny when you have to explain the joke ... ****

So, did you finally get rid of that gas guzzling Hummer (whatever number) you were driving. Please say yes!

    Re: Bought a minivan today

Most the decent new Dodge and Chrysler models now you don't have to take seats out..they just flip down. The side and back doors automatically open. The Dash board has a touchscreen TV built into it that displays a camera view when you go in reverse. 6 disc dvd changer. The middle of the van has a Flip down TV. The back of the van has a flip down tv with Sirius BackSeat TV. Wireless headphones etc...
They are insanely much cheaper than Nice SUV's, get better gas mileage. Even much cheaper than a normal Honda or Toyota Minivan. I would say people that don't have kids (at least 3 or more) won't understand.
but if you have 3 or more kids its probably time to put down the "cool" card.
    Just my 2 cents.
Make sure you don't call the charge. But make sure you call the foul on the scrum....
