Looks like that's the route I'll take.
Im a fan of Sailor Jerry myself. Smooth and awesome. Higher alc than Captain as well.
Sailor Jerry: Rum
But hey, if you're only buying it to mix, then stick with the cheap stuff.
A well chilled vodka martini with some blue cheese stuffed olives is a work of art.
I agree with the above, there is a difference in vodkas but its all about subtle flavors. If you are mixing, absolutely no point in expensive vodka. I am a big fan of Skyy for mixing. My wife loves Cosmos with Skyy Citrus.
For martini's, my favorite is Ciroc. French vodka made from Sauvignon Blanc Grapes. Great flavor on the finish. Grey Goose is very good but a bit overpriced. Grey Goose is actually distilled more like cognac than other vodkas. Also, the Grey Goose Flavors are the best, but I still wouldnt mix them.
Ketel is a very good vodka for he money.
Absolut to me is worse than Skyy
My two cents....
1. Macaellen 12 or 18 yr old (rare occassion i pick up the 25 year old)
2. Effen Vodka
3. Belverdere Vodka

but give me any liquor over vodka anyday.
When I want a mixed drink (and want to feel like I'm 22 again), I'll have a Captain and diet. I might have to try Sailor Jerry's sometime, too.
For all the talk about Vodka, my personal fav hasn't been mentioned. Stoli with ice. Delicious. If you are ever in North Ames, stop by, I've always got it in the freezer.
I am saddened that this wasn't higher on the list:
97 EVERCLEAR 190 COCKTAILS
I hope you all feel ashamed. Now your punishment is to go home and get some everclear, cider, juice, cinnamon, and sugar. You all know what to do next.
Wake up tomorrow and feel bad about what you've done. Have I made myself clear?
Vodka, like BMW's, is/are for cocks.
I have NEVER met a good dude who is also a Vodka snob....
