I'm sure the ticks helped you out as well. I hope my home base treated you well other than the crazy bugs.
I don't think it is RIM that keeps the wifi out of the phones, since they do make them for other carriers. For some reason VZW and crew don't like the added option which would be a big benefit for me since our house has a signal that bounces between 2 bars 1X and 1 bar EVDO.
There is word already out on the blogs that Sprint is now requiring WiFi on all smartphones, including a possible Tour refresh.
I would find this to be a welcome change in the industry. Wireless data is usually fine, but the signal in my house isn't always the greatest so WiFi would be helpful.
While I find the use case for Wifi limited, it does have it's place and it's a nice feature to have - especially if the carrier allows tethering via wifi.
Edit: Sprint is also coming out with a 3G version of it's Airave which would basically allow you to use your broadband connection for 3G data as well, so that in situations where signal is an issue (i.e. in a house) and broadband is available, a phone without wifi wouldn't necessarily be a liability.

Can you elaborate? The reason I ask is because one of my issues with the Curve is that the trackball can be a bit of a dirt magnet.
Sorry... I didn't mean to be real vague. Since I've only messed with the tour a few times, I am not REAL knowledgable about what the issues with it is, but the nice thing with dirt is this trackball is black so it shouldn't show dirt. I also think it seems a little tighter then the curve's trackball... it seemed like the curve's trackball was kind of loosey goosey when I messed with it. I think it's an improvement.
