    WOI TV help

I have dish network, and have had the locals set up over my antenna as well as through dish. I had to rescan to pick up kcci after the conversion, but I'm still getting zilch for WOI. Anyone else have this problem?

The reason I like it is that my receiver can be recording on dish, and I can watch the ota channels without interrupting, and vice versa. Not sure what to do about it at this point.

Okay, I guess I may need to do some antenna work since woi also went from high uhf to low vhf.

    Re: WOI TV help

Today is not a WOI day. I had to move my indoor antenna to get reception. I would wait until after dark and try rescanning. Your problem will likely fix itself by then. I am an old timer and will guarantee you that when everyone used an antenna everyone received better reception after dark. I cannot give you a scientific reason why this holds true.

I have the same problem. What's the "new info" you have and what do I need to do?

    Re: WOI TV help

You could try contacting WOI-TV directly if it's an issue regarding their signal. Their engineers do field those calls.

    Re: WOI TV help

I'm not sure what to do at this point, I'm going to see how the signal is tonight but I'm guessing it's plopping down some dough for a new antenna at least.

Here's a bit of a writeup on switching from high uhf to low vhf:

Thank you, I didn't know you could do that. I have to figure out what kind of antenna I'm using, hah.

I have an outdoor, powered antenna but know nothing about uhf vs vhf. Oh, I'm in Marshalltown.

This is similar to what I have: http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...75&tab=summary

    Re: WOI TV help

    VHF = channels 2-13
UHF = channels 14 and higher

A UHF antenna will only receive 14 and higher.

For a while WOI was using a different frequency versus a virtual channel (5), to broadcast on.. I believe it was 58. Either way it was in the UHF frequency.

Now they have moved to the VHF frequency because they could turn off the analog signal.

    http://hraunfoss.fcc.gov/edocs_publi...-06-1082A2.pdf it was channel 59...

    Re: WOI TV help

    From Antennaweb.org:

Are all digital stations on UHF channels, and do I need a UHF-only antenna to receive them? What are the VHF and UHF bands anyway, and what do VHF and UHF stand for?

The Very High Frequency (VHF) band is the segment of the television broadcast band covering channels 2 through 13. The Ultra High Frequency (UHF) band is the segment of the television broadcast band covering channels 14 through 83. Currently, the vast majority of TV stations broadcasting in digital are using UHF (14 and up) channels to do so. This is not due to any technical requirement of digital broadcasting, however. It is mostly because the UHF channels were more likely to be available in most markets. Eventually, after the digital transition is complete and TV stations no longer need to broadcast in analog, they may switch and use their current analog VHF channels for digital instead. Antennas that receive UHF stations only and ones that receive both VHF and UHF are available. If you are fairly certain you won't want to get any lower channels in the VHF 2-13 range, you could purchase one that is UHF only.

    Re: WOI TV help

From woi's website, not sure it's worth it to me to pay for a new antenna since I do get the channel through dish, just lose some convenience and when dish is out, lose ota.

    Re: WOI TV help

What sucks is my antenna is uhf/vhf, but probably not capable enough for woi.
