Anybody else notice how you can eat Sour Cream and Onion chips and then within minutes your farts smell exactly like the bag?
Same thing happens with Rolling Rocks...

Re: What food smells the worst?
When I was over in China they cooked fried bean curd everywhere and it was hands down the worst thing I have ever smelled. I would rather hang out in a hog building and put up with that smell then have to smell fried bean curd again.
Re: What food smells the worst?
I love sardines but am not allowed to eat them anymore. The problem with sardines is that the smell hangs out forever. Well, that and bacon, but I love that smell and I could enjoy a home filled with a strong bacon musk.

Lutefish dunked in chlorox and kimchi are really, really bad. Not so bad is overcooked turnip greens, old goat cheese, week old tuna, and canned sauerkraut.
You are what you eat.
Re: What food smells the worst?
mexican menudo-made with beef tripe-smells like hell-but is supposed to be good for you after you have been drinking.i never have tried it,but i can't stand the smell of it.
Re: What food smells the worst?
Lutefisk gets close, but the winner by far is Durian. Ever smell decomp?
"The edible flesh emits a distinctive odour, strong and penetrating even when the husk is intact. Some people regard the durian as fragrant; others find the aroma overpowering and offensive. The smell evokes reactions from deep appreciation to intense disgust. The odour has led to the fruit's banishment from certain hotels and public transportation in southeast Asia"

In college with less money, I USE to cook liver and onions and apples together. Whatever the apples the brought to the table saved the edibility of the liver. Liver was dirt cheap back then.

Anything such as cod that you soak in poison for a week and then soak in water for a week to remove the poison is not such a great item to swallow, smell or no smell. That is two weeks of soaking for perfectly fine cod.
Re: What food smells the worst?
I was going to say sauerkraut, but since it's already been mentioned: pickles. I have no idea how anyone enjoys those things.

Re: What food smells the worst?
I can't stand the smell of fish but I'd have to say certain ethnic foods, especially some Indian cuisines smell terrible.
