how would you rank the decades in terms of music?

here is how i would do it

1. 1970s - punk, disco, classic rock and a little bit of everything
2. 60s - a lot of good music but most of it was in the second half of decade
3. 90s - nirvana, stp, rhcp, presidents of the us, and some other grunge and post-grunge stuff.
4. 50s - a lot of good classic R&B music with guys like Chuck Berry and Sam Cooke but for every "Roll Over Beethoven" you had three "how much is that doggy in the window" type of songs and some of the most corny syrupy music that flat out sucked
5. 80s - mostly crap but still some good stuff here and there
6. 2000s - a decade that lacks creativity

AC/DC, Van Halen, Aerosmith, ZZ Top, Def Leppard, Beastie Boys, U2, Metallica, Motley Crue, Queensryche, Red Hot Chili Peppers...there is plenty of love in the 80's.

I have been listing to the Dan all day-you tube. This is easily the highest grade rock group ever.

Disagree with this one. Best musicians collectively and best music with the pinnacle of Steely Dan, it just doesn't get any better.

Wow, you need to get out and experience music. I would kill myself if i listened to kiss. Not a good indicator of 2000's music. I feel sorry for you.

If you're basing your opinion of this decade's music off of Kiss 107, you know nothing about this decade's music.

I would say every decade except the 80's is almost even, imo, for it's music quality. The 70's might be a little bit ahead of the others, as artists like The Stones, Who, Neil Young, Zep, etc, were at the top of their games. The 80's has a lot of great music buried under terribly cheesy production techniques as well.
