Egocentric America, or just another idiot?
I just got back from watching fireworks. The young woman sitting next to me pondered out loud what other countries do for the 4th of July. I responded that they don't celebrate the 4th and then I asked her why other countries would celebrate our Independence Day? She told me it is, or at least should be, a global affair because we are the leaders of the free world, and that democracies are all based on our Constitution. When I asked her if she ever heard of the Magna Carta, she responded, "Is that a car?"
She was young, maybe 20, but it still scared me a tiny bit.
HAPPY 4th!!!!!!!!!!

A few years ago I thought I saw there were fireworks in London on July 4th. I thought that was crazy.

A lot of people I know celebrate Cinco De Mayo so I would expect our brothers to the south to celebrate 4th of July.

The gap in our economy is between what we have and what we think we ought to have--and that is a moral problem, not an economic one. - Paul Heyne -
