Nearly had to work September 12th
I work for a government contractor and my job is to set-up briefings for Soldiers that are deploying and coming home from deployment. Well, two of the units that I have been assigned to, have tried to make me miss the ISU/iowa game. The latest coming yesterday. Because we can only do our events on weekends, I have a panic attack when we have a unit coming or going this time of the year. Anyway, a unit is coming home in a about a month and for their first event, they wanted to have it take place on the 12th of September. They being the COL. Long story short, they can't schedule it for the 12th because of leave overlapping. So, the moral of the story is, I GET TO GO TO THE GAME!!! That is all.

Re: Nearly had to work September 12th
I just found out I have an NTC rotation from 14 - 24 September. If they think I'm going to report prior to the 13th, they are smoking dope.
No way, will I miss my first Iowa/Iowa State game since 1984.

This will only be my second one, but it's the game I look forward to the most. It's so emotional. I love it!

NHL teams need to be added to the favorite teams section. -

In the grand scheme, conference games are more important, but you don't work, live, or hangout with fans from Penn State, Northwestern, or Purdue. The winner gets scoreboard for the entire year.

Conference games are awesome, but there is a reason to a rivalry. A rivalry game will always have more emotional meaning to people than other games. If it didn't, it wouldn't be a rivalry.

Re: Nearly had to work September 12th
That's nothing, my first born is on the way, and by the L.M.S she is due September 9th, by the Ultra sound it is september 14th. It will probably split the difference and happen on Sept. 12. Damn kid is screwing with me already.
And before someone else says it, I know better planning. -

You could come and be part of the better BCT, since they love to have drills across the state on the second weekend in September every year.
The last two years I have been lucky and been in schools until August and then used September as a split, so we could attend. This year I was going to do the same since I have been bumming it all summer for the Guard and am heading to the Alabama Military Academy on Friday to be a Platoon Trainer for OCS for a few weeks. Then I hear that my current CO wants to do her change of command in September, well as of now I am still one of the two options for the position, even if it isn't me, I want to be there for the COC. Yahoo radio will be my friend that day unless the COC gets moved to October. So, yes, I am jealous of all of you as this will be the second time I have missed the game since '89.
