Re: school uniforms
Did you guys wear your football jerseys on Fridays? I loved those days. All the freshmen would look at us in awe and the girls were sc-sc-sc-screamin' 'cause I looked liked steamin' willie beamin.
On the flip side, we had to wear a tie on game-days for basketball. Not nearly as much fun.

I think uniforms aren't a bad idea, actually.

I would love to have a school uniform at the school I work at. We easily have 10 students every day that need to be either sent home or given a PE uniform to change into for the day.
I think it's always good to limit distractions at school - you know so you can focus on that thing.... what's it called..... it used to be what schools were all about...... oh that's right LEARNING

Re: school uniforms
I hate to stop the talk of sorority girls sun bathing, but back to the original topic. This isn't just about girls dressing inappropriately, it is also shifts the focus of having the latest fashion and back to learning. I know that back when I was in high school what clothes you wore played an important role in where you fit on the social ladder. To much concern goes into what you were wearing. In a way it levels the playing field for these kids. (end of rant, and as I type this I feel like a really old guy yet I am only 25).

Many of the poor students I see everyday struggle to feel accepted at times if they can't get a certain outfit that another student has.
Hell, just look at shoes. How many stories have you heard about some kid getting his Air Jordans jacked.

For example the school my girlfriends 12 year old daughter goes to they have a rule about the shortness of shorts. It goes like this, from a standing position let your arms hang down on your sides, your shorts may not be any shorter than where your fingertips end on your leg. It sounds all well and good except my gf's daughter is pretty lanky and has longer arms. So technically she has to wear shorts that go to her knees (which for a skinny lanky girl would mainly be mesh basketball type shorts). I just think this kind of thing is dumb, if her mom thinks its ok for her to where shorter than knee length shorts she should be able to.

My kids are in elementary school, but this still applies. Almost all approved shirts are of the same brand and type, and have the school logo on them. Shorts/pants can be khaki or black. Shirts are the school colors: Green, yellow, or purple. Generic gray shirts, without the logo, can be worn as well.
Shopping is easy, all the kids look sharp (regardless of economic class), teachers/administrators don't have to worry about inappropriate clothes.
It's great.
Forever trying to find a cure for the Dunning-Kruger Effect.
