How do I capture a paused dvd frame to a picture?
Does anybody know if it is possible to capture a paused dvd recording from my camcorder and make a jpeg image out of it? I have made a dvd from our vacation and would like to make a still photo of a couple of things.
I have Windows XP and have tried to do it with media player and movie maker, but couldn't figure it out. I also tried using the Power DVD player and it had a button with a picture of a camera on it and it said "capture". I clicked on "send to file" and "send to clipboard", but nothing ever showed up.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

If you play the DVD can you pause it and use the screen capture? (Ctrl+Print Screen and paste into Paint, etc.)

VLC can do this for you.
VLC media player - Open Source Multimedia Framework and Player
This is the only video player I use.

Did you go to the location where you sent the file, and did you paste what you sent to the clipboard?
You can also try ctrl + Print Screen, then paste the image into a photo editor (even Paint will work), and crop to your satisfaction.

I can pause, but when I do ctrl + prt scrn, nothing happens.

That's because you've only copied the contents of the screen. You have to open Paint, then hit Ctrl+P to paste the capture so it can be saved.

Ok, I opened paint and pasted, then it just shows the "Power DVD" blue title bar at the top and a black screen that was pasted to paint.

OK, now I got it. I used ctrl + P instead of ctrl + prt scrn and it worked.
Thanks!

Shift + print screen captures the frame on the screen NOT ctrl +print screen.

Screen Hunter 4.0 Free will capture anything on your screen. It will capture the entire screen or just the active portion.
