Cool things your parents have done for you?
I related this in another thread, but thought it would be an interesting topic of discussion, so I thought I would repost my story here, and hoped to hear some from others. When I was 17 or so, I met up with some friends on a gravel road. When we had decided what we were going to do for the night, I went to do a three point turn to follow them. My back wheel slipped off the road, and we could not getting it going. I ended up backing into the ditch with the thought that I could drive out. Unfortunately, I got it high centered, and that was that. Being 17, I made the command decision to transfer the beer cooler to my buddies car, and off we went for the night. When I got home at 1 or 2 in the morning, I left a note for my dad explaining what happened and where my car was. I knew I had screwed up, and at that time sincerely wished that I had dealt with it the night before. When I woke up late the next morning, I dreaded finding out the reaction. I walked out into the kitchen, and all that my dad wrote on the note was "done". My car was in the driveway, and we never spoke about it again. That story chokes me up to this day, because my dad's reaction told me so many things at once; that he knew I was bound to screw up occassionally and that he trusted me enough to know that I felt bad about it already. That one note did more to keep me in line than any amount of yelling that he ever could have done. -

They're not so overbearing anymore.

Re: Cool things your parents have done for you?
They created me, so that was pretty cool.
There are so many moments, but honestly my parents have always supported every decision I've made and allowed me to make mistakes and learn on my own. Very thankful for that.

Mine just sent me money to help me move for a job. They are in no way rich and in fact my dad is currently a full time student working to finish his masters in education. Even if it is my birthday present, it is way more than expected.

My parents payed for my college education, which was a huge blessing. My mom is just an all around superstar mom as well.

Let me have girlfriends sleep in the same bed as myself under their roof.

Cool story! I am quite thankful as well... Just moved into a house (3 hrs away from them) and they've made many trips in the last month to help with things. Mom drove out after work to help me clean my old apt. Both helped a ton with the move. Zero interest loans.
They do quite a bit for me and I'm very thankful.
This is my sarcasm pirate. There are many like it but this one is mine. -

My parents let me learn from my mistakes. Something I didn't realize until I helped raise two kids.
I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone. -

they raised me as a cyclone fan
There are not many crowds or places in the country that have a better impact on the game than at Iowa State. The Cyclone fans are truly a sixth man. The place is so loud and always a fantastic crowd." - Former Kansas and current North Carolina head coach Roy Williams -

I had the goal of seeing every Big XII stadium by the time I graduated. My dad facilitated road trips to all but 3 of those, and we missed the 3 only because I had things to get done to prepare for the real world. We'll hit 'em all soon enough.

My parents are have given me zero interest loan for school, even letting me go back for a fifth year that pretty much amounts to a glorified victory lap as their kid puts off growing up.
I've done some dumb things in my life, and my parents always held me accountable, but I'm a better person because of my parents, and for that fact grandparents. Their responsible for instilling the morals on me that prevent me from making a fool of myself most times.
