Job offer in Billings, MT...some advice?

Wondering if anyone has any experience fishing or hunting up in the area. It is Montana, and I can only imagine that it doesn't suck...but if anyone has any experiences in the area to share it would be greatly appreciated. I'm deciding between MT and OR right now, but seriously leaning toward MT....oh, and if anyone has ever lived there...is it a nice place to live????

Its tough to find places to hunt since the outfitters have so much
of the land tied up.
The fishing,on the other hand,is world class.
I'm saving up for another trip.

I fairly sure there is a Cabalas there now, I remember seeing one along the interstate a week ago. I know they have Elk and Deer in the area (saw the remains along the road), and I know there are antelope nearby.

I do know that the Reds have a minor league team there... the Billings Mustangs.

If it is on the Portland side of the Cascades I would go with Billings as well, otherwise I would chose Oregon. Neither have sales tax, and the weather/ scenery/ accessibility is better in Oregon than in Montana. The only reason I would chose Billings over Portland area is because Portland is wetter than Seattle and I like dryer climates.

My son lived out there for 3 years to play hockey. He actually liked the community alot. Friendly blue collar people, very country western. Not as nice looking as some of the Western cities as it is pretty industrial.

I'm a big fan of Montana. Billings, Kalispell and Bozeman are my favorite towns.

Great spot for hunting and fishing. Different from Iowa in that it's a LOT of public land and in the mountains... but man, is it beautiful. My advice, take the job.

My sister and her husband live in Livingston - not too far from Bozeman. They love it. He is a big fisherman, outdoorsman in general and couldn't be happier. Having only visited once, its a totally different lifestyle. But considering your interests I think it would be right up your alley.

Haven't been to Oregon so I can't really compare the two.
