Re: What if an EMP detonated above the USA?

Thanks Jon, I just pictured myself starving and getting shot by my neighbors. What a fantastic way to start the afternoon.

Would I betray my engineering background if I were to say the electrical device would have to be ON for an EMP to destroy the electronics?

Do you think humans are the only living creatures affected by this emp stuff? Everything else lives, we die? i don't honestly know, i didn't bother reading the sqauk's link.

Re: What if an EMP detonated above the USA?

I could survive without technology and would actually prefer it. However in this case, it would suck, because people would panic and there would be lawlessness. It would be hard to protect my family. Food would be scarce within weeks and people would kill for it. I think our society today is not built for any mass tragedy. We have become too self centered.

I am not confident the rest of the world would bail us out. Some may offer assistance, but whoever did this would leave our door wide open to conquer us and quickly take control. They would probably threaten other nations to cease assistance.

The truly scary thing is that it might not even take the act of a crazy dictator for this to occur.

The race is on for better forecasting abilities, as the next peak in solar activity is expected to come around 2012.

    NICE.

I seriously think it wouldn't be such a bad idea if SkyNet would just become aware already...

I just told a buddy that Im quiting my IT job before then. I dont want to deal with it. He said he is going to quit his job and sell guns. Thinks a profit would be had. I figure someone with a gun would just shoot him and take his stash.

It only effects electronics so unless bambi is rolling with a walkman I think they will be ok.

Like a poster below says - I would kind of like no technology and no reason to have to go to work.

Hell I am working now so I can retire to hunt and fish all the time anyway.
