Re: District 9
I saw this yesterday. The special effects were outstanding the way they integrated the CGI with the real actors/scenery. The basis of the story was just plain stupid.
Spoilers from here on out Highlight to read: The reason the aliens ended up here was because they ran out of gas. So their solution was to sit in their ship and die of starvation. While one left the ship and the rest of his people to start the 20 year process of creating more fuel. Obviously they eventually learned to speak the alien language. Wouldn't it have been easier for the aliens to tell the humans, 'hey we ran out of gas and it will takes us 20 years to formulate a new batch'? Why keep it a secret? What was their reason for coming here in the first place, to corner the market on cat food? -

Re: District 9
I saw it this weekend too. I really enjoyed it. Finally a movie that thinks "outside the box" and isn't a standard cookie cutter Hollywood movie.
I thought the plot was good and the movie flowed really well. It's so different and I think that's what makes it great.
