Too bad he didn't get to see the 40th anniversary of the moon landing. That will definitely be remembered as one of his shining moments in news coverage.

Cronkite had a lot of shining moments in news coverage. The JFK assassination and pretty much the entire Vietnam War come to mind.
I remember him with the moon landing, the whole space program actually. (I know, I'm old). Also remember him with the Kennedy killing. Remember too when he came back from Vietnam after the Tet offensive and said on his broadcast that it was time to negotiate peace, because he no longer thought we could win the war. LBJ said something to the effect that "If I've lost Cronkite, I've lost America". Something like that.
He was a great reporter. Can't think of a better one since.
