Probably no more than here. I think Europe is an easy target because its old and creepy. ;)

But honestly, look at Mexico City. Its a booming economic city, but you run a huge risk of being kidnapped if you visit it.

You're much more likely to be pickpocketed in Europe. In comparison, vioent crimes are much more likely to happen in the US...or so I have beent told.

I don't think kidnapping is very prevelant in Europe, I've been 7 times and going again on Thursday. Don't be a dumb tourist and nothing will happen.

I'd say it happens more than any American would want to think about or care to admit.

As a federal employee, one of my annual "trainings" is an information course on "Trafficking in Persons" (Flag Guy probably knows what I'm talking about). I think if a lot of you were to take this course, and saw just how high of numbers we are talking about and just how sick some of these people are (Taken barely scratches the surface), most of you wouldn't be taking the themes in movies such as "Taken" or "Hostel" so cavalierly...
