Anybody know how to do this? I'm having some drain tile laid around the house. I know that the guy doing the trenching will be ~20' from the line from when our septic was installed, but he wants me to mark it. Iowa One Call doesn't do any private lines, so I'm wondering if there's a way I can do it myself. I could just mark the line without actually locating it since I know where it is +/- a couple feet, and we will be trenching 20' away from it. Thanks.
Whoever services your propane and owns the tank should be willing to do that for you.
If you're just going to guesstimate it there really isn't any advice to give, but the safe way would be to use a metal detector and you'll get a distinct signal that follows that line...I've actually done it this way for a very similar reason.
