Perfect game at State Tournament
Boone opened the state tournament today with a 12-0 win over Chariton. Blane Reutter threw a perfect game.
I wonder when the last perfect game was at the State Tournament?

Yes, but it counts because of it being a finished game.

When does Dermody for Norwalk pitch again. I think it's today? He could damn well throw a perfect game anytime he steps on the mound.

He's pitching and batting third.

That's pretty cool.
I think if you go to the Iowa High School Athletic Assocation Web site you could find out when the last perfect game was.
I think a kid from Turkey Valley threw a perfect game in the 1980s, but I could be wrong. He might have just thrown a no-hitter.

Bud Legg at the Athletic Association does a great job with all history and stats and what not. I'm sure it will be in the papers tomorrow. I'll just wait until then.

How do we get score updates for the Norwalk game? I am interested.

You'll get no argument from me about Legg. I just didn't know if you could wait until tomorrow a.m. to find out.

Doesn't look like there's been a perfect game at state.
Postseason perfect games on record:
2005 - Chris Kramer, Mount Pleasant vs. Keokuk (District opener)
2004 - Bryan Leitzinger, Norwalk vs. Clarke (District opener)
Interestingly enough, Boone had an arguably better pitching performance in 1965. Jack Mustapha pitched three consecutive no-hitters in the postseason -- substate games against North Tama and Shenandoah, and the state championship against Burlington.

Haha. You know it Bryce. I was just having a discussion the other day about how good some of the 1999-2002 teams from Boone could have been if we were in 3A back then instead of 4A.
Re: Perfect game at State Tournament
Somebody scrawled that on the wall of Lumpy's back in the day, and one of my college buddies always mentions it whenever we get together. He loved making fun of me about being from Boone.
Boone is 3A in baseball now? Weird.

Leitzinger is my cousin, followed it up going 6 1/3 hitless before giving up an infield single in the substate game...
