Jerome Tiller
Hey CycloneNation!
I am new to this and I am sorry if this has already been a topic but I was curious as to what peoples opinions were about Jerome Tiller? I know he received a lot of hype last year when he was a red-shirt but I havent heard much about him since.
Thanks

Re: Jerome Tiller
I think he'll be a great Big 12 starting QB as a Junior and Senior.

Re: Jerome Tiller
I've heard that he is great on his feet, but his throwing could use some improvement. Like Drive4cy said, he will be a great Big 12 QB in the next couple of years.

Re: Jerome Tiller
Arnaud and some of the other guys are quoted as saying Tiller also has a cannon, so that's good to hear. He's a multi-threat QB that also ran the spread in HS.

I don't know how far behind you are on Tiller, but he was sort of the star of the spring game. He outperformed Arnaud and led his team (No. 2 offense, No. 1 defense) to a win over Arnaud's squad (no. 1 offense, No. 2 defense).
I think he's more suited to running the kind of offense Herman envisions than Arnaud is. Having said that, Arnaud has NFL potential if he keeps improving and he isn't going to suck at running Herman's offense by any means.
Arnaud gives us more options in the passing game, I think, although both have strong, accurate arms. Arnaud might be better with things like touch and throwing an accurate deep ball. Tiller is the better runner without a doubt.
At this point, the difference in the two might just be experience and decision making. Arnaud has a big edge in both right now, IMO.

Re: Jerome Tiller
Yeah I remember reading that article in the Daily and he was a Stud in the spring game!
I have watched his videos on IowaPreps (Scout) and he seems to have some SERIOUS potential.

Re: Jerome Tiller
Spring game performances to me mean very little. The coaches see these guys in practice every day and 1 meaningless scrimmage against your own defense in the spring to me does not make this a QB competition. Arnaud is a lock right now and barring injury or major lack of performance from the QB spot by him he's going to be our guy for the next 2 seasons. I don't know how anyone here could possibly think Tiller has even a remote shot at unseating Arnaud right now after how Austin did in his first full season as a starter last year.

Re: Jerome Tiller
Travman is probably closer to dead on on this one. Tiller had a great game, but CPR has pretty much locked AA in to the starter. I think Tiller needs to work on his accuracy. From what I saw at the game he was looking pretty good because our second string defense is a big drop from the 1st. Coverages were pretty loose. Dont get me wrong, when he ran, look out, he could move. But I think against a B12 defense he would have more issues. I will say this, he has made marked improvements from last year. If he keeps it up and AA is the starter until he grads, tiller will not be a drop off by any means. He may be better. three years in the same system = better than three systems in five years.

Re: Jerome Tiller
Mind you Tiller was on 2nd string Off. against 2nd string Def.
AA was against 1st team def. and playing with first team off.
Im with Rhoads those stats are as good as toilet paper in the spare bathroom.
I still think Tiller is very talented but in terms of brain power in the game of football I'll take AA's experience. Ill also take AA's past statistics ('08) over the spring game numbers. We got a hell of a starting quarterback and a great back up incase AA gets a stinger or needs a breather.
A HUGE plus in my mind is a back up QB thats a threat on his feet.

KNAPP Potential and 75 cents gets you a cup of coffee in the morning.
Rather wait and see what he does with a little word called "opportunity" this fall. Excited to see if/when he excels. Gonna be sweet! -
Re: Jerome Tiller
He will be a good qb his junior and senior year...But I'm glad we have a very capable back up. Arnaud has the starting spot until proven otherwise.

I could see JT getting a series or two a game with a special package of plays utilizing his abilities.
