rivals account ? starting it out
i'm finally giving in and i think i'm gonna get a rivals account, but i have a couple questions for people who have one.
do you get unlimited access to ALL rivals based websites (like cyclonereport, iowapreps, etc...) if you purchase the monthly or the annual package?

Re: rivals account ? starting it out
From my memory, (I had an account for about 2 months once) you have access to all articles written across the rivals network but only access to the confidential message boards for the team you purchase.
IMO your money would be better spent giving it to the athletic department.

This is correct. You only get access to one premium message board (the site you register on), but you get to read premium content on the entire network. Just cannot access the premium team message boards unless you pay separately again.

Re: rivals account ? starting it out
I was pretty disappointed with Rivals. Not worth the money, imo. I think it's more the "perception" you're getting more reliable and better insider information than anything.

I thought about it, but then decided I would keep the $100 a year and just wait the extra few hours it takes the "inside info" to reach the free boards or be broadcast on the local news.

You get the National boards as well as the Cyclone board. Like others have said the articles as well. I am on the fence as to whether it is worth the money.
Around football signing day I would say it definitely is and there have been more inside information posts from football players parents on the board

Re: rivals account ? starting it out
I am a member of 2 rivals boards and recommend them both.
To each their own, some like the information and discussion, some do not, that is fine.
Paul does a good job and you do get good information from a variety of background sources.
Again, to each their own, but in my opinion, no need to say give it to the department instead. As a rule there are a lot and lot of donors and probably a higher percentage are donors on the rivals boards of all sites.
Feel free to pm with any questions.

Re: rivals account ? starting it out
I agree that there are good sources on here, no argument with that.
Each board has its personality.

Each board has its personality. Just curious is all...not trying to put you on the spot.

Re: rivals account ? starting it out
To address your question, you see a lot of parents belonging, interviews, CGC members, etc, good background from both Paul and Chris, etc.

I think it's worth the money during football season. Like Clones85 said, it's nice to get the inside information from the football player parents and others with ties to the program.
For basketball coverage, I think this site is as good as any.
