Re: DUI on a Lawn Mower
I saw this happen first hand in the early 90's...a guy was riding a lawn-mower with a 40 in his hand in a small town I was visiting and the county deputy spotted him. That was entertaining.

Yep, you can get a DUI on those little beer-cooler scooters too and a bike as well.

In Omaha there is a woman currently awaiting trial for DUI and motor vehicle homicide for driving her friend home in a golf cart, tipping it over resulting in her friends death. http://www.ketv.com/news/19724303/detail.html

I tried to out run a cop in my jeep power wheel. Would have done it too if the battery life on those things wasn't 27 feet.

Re: DUI on a Lawn Mower
I had a coworker who was mowing his law on a riding mower. He'd had a bottle of bud light in the cup holder of his mower. A sheriff was serving someone a few doors down. Got back in his car, and sat there for a while, presumably doing paper work. the coworker finished drove his rider into the street to cross the street to dump the bagger in the vacant lot (where he had permission of the lot owner). cop ziipped down the street, blipped the sirens at him got out and approached him. Made him run through the field sobriety tests and dumpt the rest of the beer. Then let him go. About a year later, he found out that the deputy was a friend of the neighbors and his neighbor had been f'ing with him.

Glad I read the entire thing because if he had approached him while he was still on private property I'm not sure he could have done anything. Once he took the mower off his property pretty sure he was fair game at that point for open container laws.

The husband of a woman I worked with (her story) got DUI for driving his car in circles in their back yard. I do know he did get a DUI and others gave him **** for years after that on how he got it.
