laptop question
I have a dell inspiron 2650 1.6G Celeron, 256MB RAM.
Is it possible to upgrade the RAM on this? How much would I be lookin at?
I have upgraded RAM on PC's before, is it similar or does it require a professional?
Thanks!

Computer memory upgrades for Dell Inspiron 2650 Series Laptop/Notebook from Crucial.com
Looks like it maxes at 512mb of memory. Honestly if its an early celeron you wont see much in performance boost from this. But for about 20 bucks, you could give it a shot.
There should be a screwed on cover on the bottom that will allow you to slip this in.

Quick search resulted in this: Dell Inspiron 2650 Memory Upgrades - 100% Compatible Dell Inspiron 2650 RAM Memory
If you can see how many pieces of RAM you already have installed, you may need to get 1 or 2 256 MB cards to max out your RAM. If you have two RAM chips installed, you need to replace them both with 256 MB cards.
If you only have one 256 MB card installed, all you need is an extra 256 MB card to max it out.

Re: laptop question
Thanks for your help. I might try that as well as reformatting the HD.

Re: laptop question
If you go to Dell's support website and punch in your service tag, it'll give you all the options available to your machine.
Crucial often runs alot of rebates through Amazon. I upgraded my wife's laptops, dad's and niece's desktops pretty cheaply.
No big deal replacing memory in a laptop. The chip lays down in the slot, instead of standing like in a desktop.
