Smoking???? When to draw the line with Neighbors

I have a 17 month old daughter and live in an apartment building. Something I am deffinetly not proud of as I hate raising her in an apartment setting with all these rug rats running around. Anyway, this is the second set of neighbors I have had that do nothing but sit outside all night and smoke. This is really only a problem two months out of the year when I want the windows open. I grew up in with parents who smoked but were very respectful around others and me. I understand smoking but when do I draw the line and freak out?

Sorry to say there probly is much you can do. As long as they are not smoking in your apt or on you porch, I guess you have to learn to live with it.

Maybe talk to the landlord?

Jebus dude, are you serious? What about leaf burning season? I'm not even a smoker but give me a ******* break.

Well considering you aren't suppose to smoke within ten feet of an apartment building I think smoking on your patio is pretty rude. Maybe that's just me. Personally I could care less but when my daughter is home when smoke is coming into my apartment its a different freakin story.

Yes, why not talk to the landlord? The landlord probably can't ask the neighbors to stop smoking, but perhaps can move you to another open apartment? Also, why not get an air purifier? It helps quite a bit.

I think you're being ridiculous, personally, especially for a problem that occurs only 2 months out of the year. And this is coming from a guy who has kids, has lived in an apartment before and hates smoking. if you don't like it, move.

I would probably just do whatever I could to make their lives a living hell until they either stopped or moved.

The chances of cigarette smoke from outdoors coming into your apartment and affecting the health of any human being are slim to none. Second hand smoke in general is most likely nothing more than an annoyance. Don't take my word for it:

BTW - I am a non-smoker.
