Marty who????
98.3 was running a promo for their High School FB game of the week and it will be announced by none other than Mouth of the Midwest Marty McFly or McDermott or something like that. Did Marty really change his raido name? Why cann't they find someone better to do the games? Marty doing the Energy games is painfull to listen to.

Re: Marty who????

Re: Marty who????
For as big of a bonehead as Marty is, he's still entertaining. The guy doesn't have a shred of credibility and has quite possibly the most annoying laugh since Fran Drescher, but he does a very good play-by-play and I would much rather listen to him than Perault.

I agree totally. Character issues aside, Marty is great at play-by-play, and has tons more talent than Perrault. No comparison.

I don't think Marty has ever made a proper call during a game-winning play/shot/etc. in his play-by-play career. Example: Iowa Energy games or the Mtown kick over Valley, he screamed 'no good' before he screamed 'good.'

Re: Marty who????
Really? I listened a bit to some energy games in the past and I thought he was God-awful.
Never heard him do FB, to be fair.

Never heard him do FB, to be fair. I think if we got everyone together who listened to those games, we'd still be a guy or two short for a softball team.

Isn't "Marty" a character that Chris Hassel invented?!? It's a totally fictitious character. "Explode and tear this whole town apart Take a knife and cut this pain from my heart Find somebody itching for something to start" "The Promised Land" Bruce Springsteen -

Re: Marty who????
Guys, lets just be honest. Aside from being a pompous you-know-what, Marty is an extremely talented and entertaining guy. I have only caught his Mouth of the Midwest Show on 1700 a handful of times, but I must admit I was impressed. He can suck you in and make you want to listen to him.
Now his play-by-play skills are yet another issue. Yes, as much as it pains me to admit it, I have caught him on a few Iowa Energy games. And let me tell you, he is one of the absolute worst basketball p-b-p guys I have heard in over 50 years of listening to play-by-play on radio. As a fomrer play-by-play guy myself, I would be embarrassed of the product he puts out. I have never heard him do a football game, but his basketball p-b-p is nothing less than horrible. Painful. Nails across a chalk board annoying.

It's Marty, 80% of the time you hate the guy, but it's that 20% that keeps you coming back.

You have got to be kidding me. Just cause Matt talks about Boston sports during the down time of summer? Boo woo... Call/E-mail in and give him something better to talk about then. Matt is good at what he does and to say Marty is better is just a joke.
NHL teams need to be added to the favorite teams section.
