Obviously, I haven't had a motorcycle. Grabbing the moving chain at all doesn't jump out to me as a good idea.
Of course, I'm the nerd listening to a Hebrew lecture online and getting excited that it put some pieces together.

I looked at this 10 minutes ago and still have vomit in my throat. I really should have read before clicking.

I didn't even flinch at that part. I was more stunned by his testimony of how it happened. And the pity that his fellow riders showed:wideeyed:

I disagree..... nothing to me says grabbing a moving chain at ANY speed and ANY tightness is a good idea.
There are plenty of ways to clean a chain, thoroughly, that do not involve the engine running, let alone the chain moving.

That's what I keep thinking. That motor has enough power to propel that bike at highway speeds (and rider, too). I'm guessing that the RPMs and such are pretty powerful with that chain, and I'm not going anywhere near that.

Don't get me wrong, there is no way on God's good green earth would I ever do that. The comment above was meant to be a smart-*** comment.
Re: Motorcycle chain-How not to clean
I've sprayed my chain (that sounded bad) with the engine running and the back wheel off the ground.

Me, too. Once physical contact is made with the chain, there's nothing but trouble on the horizon.
Except for Stewo and his Missouri-style maintenance tips:wink:
Re: Motorcycle chain-How not to clean
Holy ****. The pictures were kinda sweet, but I was more amazed at his reaction. I'd be a mess if I had to have part of my hand amputated.
