video help

My wife bought a crappy mini video camera last year for xmas. Straight to memory stick. We just tried to play the video from the memory stick on hte computer and the windows media player on my computer gives me the following.

"An audio codec is needed to play this file. To determine if this codec is available to download from the Web, click Web Help."

Clicking web really doesn't help me find anything. The properties say that it's a Windows Media Audio/Video file (.ASF), but nothing much else that's helpful. Any help would be appreciated.

I use VLC to play everything, and it's likely that it could help you out.
