I really have never got why some many people dislike Chip. I find him a pretty good announcer and I was PO'd when basically Kent Mercker and Moises Alou were the main guys that got him and Steve Stone (another great announcer) run out of the Cubs booth. I like Bob Brenly too but Chip and Steve had a lot of connections to the Cubs organization so I thought that always added a little to their broadcasts.

Agreed. I'm not the biggest fan, but it was sad to see him run out of town like that. Chip and Stoney got along well and were on their way to being landmarks of Cubs baseball.

That call wasn't that terrible, even the greats have probably botched a few like that over their careers. The guy I can't stand is Ron Darling. Between him and Joe Morgan I'm not sure which is the worse color guy.

I thought it was pretty funny, but then I am a Round Guy fan. He has the same sense of humor as me (sick and perverted), hence why I listen to him every morning on KGGO.

I can't stand Joe Morgan either! But that call was bad! There have been a lot of great moments in baseball that have been defined by great announcers. Jack Buck comes to mind many times. It just seemed that Chip either didn't have his head in the game...didn't want to be there...or maybe didn't feel well? I am not saying it was the worst broadcast ever...just saying he was off his game. And I stated earlier I remember Chip being a very good announcer.

I didnt find it inappropriate, Chip is right up there with Chris Collinsworth as bad announcers...and dont kill Round Guy, he is only doing the show because Citadel is making him.

Ya, it's tough for Joe to fit the actual call of the game into the broadcast between saying how great he and the Reds were.

I agree. That humor's fine on a local morning drive time show and I too enjoy it then. Not so much when you're interviewing a national TV play by play guy.

RG is a baseball guy. He can come up with better questions than that.

Wow I didn't even realize out of bounds was still on. One thing it is good for, if you ever wanna take an afternoon nap just turn on Out of Bounds, just like a Cubs broadcast team.
