Cascade is 8-1?!?!? They were freaking terrible when I was in high school 5 years ago. I think the class of 2005 won like 1 game in 4 years!
The Iowa high school playoffs are now the equivalent to the bowl system. Everyone gets to go. It used to be only 1 team from each district, which was dumb. Then they went to the opposite end of the spectrum and took 4 from each district, which is even dumber. Just take 2 teams you gits -

Yeah, we used to beat up on them as well - they've gotten pretty good the last couple years. IIRC, they went deep into the playoffs last year or the year before.

I am hoping Wburg makes a good run this year, they have looked great after the early loss to Mid-Prairie, plus my cousin has been having a good year.

Re: Iowa High School Playoffs...Here they are!
there was a place for the expansion ... there were years where teams that played in E-burg, Regina or any other number of dominant teams didn't get into the playoffs with 1 or 2 losses. Take Garrigan for example in Class A, 6-3 would have never gotten you in before. (sorry for all the 1A and A examples, I'm a small school grad).I think its good those teams now get a shot ... but they could just expand some places and not others (union mentality?) they had a good idea and f'd it up ... anyone not over .500 should not be included.

Re: Iowa High School Playoffs...Here they are!
think waukee got a pretty decent draw. should take care of CBAL pretty easy then a revenge game against marshalltown. even tho marshalltown won 44-22 the first time, they got lucky in a 16-10 win over an FD team that waukee destroyed so i could see that upset happening. Then we all saw how crazy the waukee/ankeny game was. I would put that as a toss up as if it happened

The only reason the FD game was close was because of weather and field conditions but they still pulled it out with D and a little rushing attack. Waukee just isn't as good as you think they are.
