OT: Vegas Lovers

Just as an FYI to everyone who enjoys Sin City...Allegiant Air is doing 2 for 1 airfare when you book by March 21. They fly direct from Des Moines to Vegas.

I'm looking at going in April or May...you can get flight and 3 nights hotel (Thursday-Sunday) for around $230 for a lower end hotel, about $300 for a mid-hotel, and about $400 for a very nice hotel. If you fly during the week, it's even cheaper.

Great City at a great price.

Hmm, I just booked a flight out there a month ago. I wonder if they can re-reimburse me with the new discount?

Re: OT: Vegas Lovers

I'm going next weekend for the first weekend of the NCAA tourney... Thursday through Sunday! Giddy up!!! I can't wait...staying at the MGM Grand, sitting in the sports book watching every game all day long, going out all night long, black jack, drinks, etc. I'm getting too excited and it's still 10 days away... have-to-temper-emotions...
If any of you have done this, you know that the first weekend of the NCAA tourney is crazy in Vegas, coupled with the beginning of SPring Break... yeah, it's a rough life. MUST NOT LOSE HOUSE!!!

Re: OT: Vegas Lovers

I absolutely love it there. A group of my friends and I usually go twice a year...usually when Allegiant has these buy one get one sales. Nothing like flying out of DM for cheap!

Also, if anyone is looking for something VERY nice but inexpensive...check out the MGM Grand Junior suites. You can book them through Allegiant for dirt cheap. We are looking at 3 nights + airfare for $330 per person. These suites have a full kitchen, down bedding, and the bathrooms are freakin' amazing...4 person jacuzzi tub, standup glass shower, TV in the bathroom...the actual toilet is in a separate room in the bathroom. I would highly recommend it.

That's very interesting. I love the MGM - always wanted to stay there. Plus, we love suites. I didn't see the MGM listed on my search though.

I'm going out in 2 weeks for a conference. I got Allegiant through Cedar Rapids for $89 both ways for 2 people almost $50 cheapier than DSM! Is there anything you guys would recommend as a must see/do?

It may be sold out on the dates you entered. I just looked at April 9-12 and the package was less than $370. A suite at the Rio was $313.

Ahhh, you realize it's not at the actual MGM Grand, right?

It's the "Signature at the MGM Grand". Newer hotel connected by a covered walk-way. I read the reviews - 99% of the folks love the hotel - very romantic. The only complaint I read was it' takes about 10-15 minutes to get to the MGM Grand hotel.

It's another division of the MGM. And it is an AMAZING room...one of the nicest I've ever stayed in. It's only about a 5 minute walk to the actual MGM hotel and then another 10 through the entire hotel/casino...

But yeah, that was our biggest complaint was walking all the way to the back of the MGM to get into the Signature. But some of the way there are moving walkways.
