    I work for Deere in Ankeny, and it happens almost every year. We laid of 200+ people in April and they were all back Aug 1st. They will probably be laid off again same time next year. Our work is very seasonal, so most of us are used to it. As long as its not permanent, its usually ok since we get sub pay from the union and it almost pays us the same as 40 hours a week at base pay.
