Re: New South Park
IMO, South Park is not what it once was. It still has funny episodes and funny moments within episodes, but I haven't seen what I consider to be a consistently good season in a very long time.
If you look back circa Seasons 8, 9, 10, nearly every episode is a classic. For the past two or three years, I haven't even been able to remember what happened in most episodes a week or two after they've aired.
I still like it and watch it every week, but it's not like it used to be for me.

Re: New South Park
Liked the episode last night, laughed my butt off.
The new season has been good... the best one was Butters as a Pimp! Love this show staying good for so long.

I have to agree with you almost entirely, I think it could have something to do with growing up, or maybe they are running out of great ideas. I can imagine after over 12 years of making episodes that it can get harder to keep it fresh.

Not every episode is great obviously, but that's a pretty high standard, and really I don't remember them all being great when the show was younger either.
It has to be incredibly hard to write 20 or so episodes a year about the exact same characters in the exact same town who never age. I think South Park has done better relative to the Simpsons. Just my opinion of course.
