if you want a lyricist, listen to immortal technique. eminem is trash
I took you advice and found some immortal. I must say, from what I listened to, I'm not all that impressed. However I may have listened some of his lesser songs. I just didn't think he flowed as well as Em. I'm not talking about Ems hit songs either. I am talking about "till I collapse," "When I'm Gone" "The Way I Am" "Stan". Songs he he is serious about and has a point behind each one.
I liked Eminem in high school. That was 10 years ago.
ahh, cds had a much better sound quality. Better yet, analog. You want great sound put on a record. You want compressed crap, listen to your digital MP3. If you want computer file and ipods, use an uncompressed format like lossless.
Eminem is one of the last few true talented rappers.
In the last 7-8 years, rap has been complete unoriginal cookie cutter crap.
You don't get out much do you?

+1. i got hooked on Madvillain because of a poster on here. can't remember now who it was. anyway, the stuff that they play on the radio and in clubs IS all cookie cutter garbage these days. the stuff you listed above is not common knowledge to casual music listeners.
back to em though, i agree that he is a great story teller, and that in my mind is the measure of greatness in hiphop music. when i listen to ems songs, i can literally see everything happening in my head-almost like watching a music video without a tv. it's not about 22" rims, iced out watches, and gold grills. i don't like the voice he uses on his latest album, but i still find myself in awe of some of the lyrics.
MF DOOM/Madvillain/DANGERDOOM/Viktor Vaughn/King Geedorah (all the same rapper under different aliases and in some cases collaborations with different producers) has got my vote. Sometimes can get pretty off-the-wall but has a sick flow and is always entertaining. Madvillainy and Vaudeville Villain especially I have to include in any discussion of the best hip-hop albums of the decade.
