No thank you....
Is this just for excel and word?
I thought it was all office programs but I could be wrong.
The download I was given was just excel and word but maybe I was sent something else. Doesn't matter because I use Thunderbird for email on my laptops and don't need powerpoint or access.
All apps are available. This beta is a ton better than the first one they put out. Its coming along nicely.
Bostine, is it any better than Open Office or just an alternative? I have not used Microsoft Office in several years so Open Office is all that I can use for comparison.
This is a beta so its free. When the full release comes out it will cost as usual. MS is working on a free web based one, but if you are comfortable with OO, might as well stick with the free for now. I love MS products, I get them for cheap or free through work, so I alway lean that way. It wouldnt hurt for you to take a look if free is there.
What sucks though is you have to uninstall any prior versions of Office. If I had a machine I could do this with I would so no thanks, I don't want to use a beta version as my every day office suite.
So is it actually good for a year? I will get it for that. Figure out something else a year from now....
Thanks Bostine! "if you are comfortable with OO, might as well stick with the free for now." is luke warm enough to make me do it. I simply have no problems with Open Office and cannot see trying Microsoft Office again, even if free, unless it is considerably better.
