Question Las Vegas Hotel Recommendations?

Las Vegas Hotel Recommendations?

We're looking to get away for a couple days and we are looking at heading to Las Vegas. Does anybody have any recommendations on a nice and affordable place to stay near the strip? We'd probably be traveling towards the end of May for a five day/four night trip. We don't want to have to rent a car so we'd need something close to the sites or near mass transit.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

Re: Las Vegas Hotel Recommendations?

Depends on what you're looking for:
Nice but cheap?
Moderate and great location?
Plan on spending time at the pool?
How much gambling/sight seeing are you planning on?
Have you been there before?

Got married at the Paris in '99, dont recommend it based upon what happened.

Have stayed at Monte carlo, Luxor, MGM and Belliagio. For affordablity and strip recommend Monte. Don't get sucked in by Cirius Circus price........too many balloons on the walls.

It's our first time there, we aren't gamblers (I know, I know), we'll see a few shows, close to the casinos to do walking and site-seeing, somewhat nicer place but still around the middle of the pack for price (or a little lower).

I'm looking through Allegiant Air and they don't have all the places in their packages but most of the known places that I've heard talked about.

Check out Southwest for packages out of Omaha

Re: Las Vegas Hotel Recommendations?

Monte Carlo is a nice place with a great pool, with a decent location.
Flamingo and Harrah's are great location in the center of the strip.
You can always take the monorail to Sahara and then walk to the Stratosphere, it offers a great view of the city.
Make sure to sign up for players cards (even if you don't gamble) you'll receive lots of free shows and other stuff.

Re: Las Vegas Hotel Recommendations?

We're going the 24th through SW air from OMAHA. For 2 flights and 3 nights at the Stratosphere, we paid $545. Didn't think that was too bad. We'll have to wait and see.

In my opinion, you can't beat Allegiant with the direct flight, good arrival/departure times and great prices.

Re: Las Vegas Hotel Recommendations?

My wife and I went out there last year and stayed at Mandalay Bay. We aren't much for gambling either which is why we chose to stay there. It's on the end of the strip, but getting around isn't too difficult because most of the casinos are connected in some way so don't have to walk outside to go from one to another. Manalay Bay is middle of the road in terms of price, but the rooms are nice and we took advantage of the wave pool/fake beach which was good for getting some sun. The House Of Blues is there as well, it was a good hangout at night.

We recommend seeing the Blue Man Group if you're looking for a show. We saw 3 shows when we were out there, and that one was by far the best - good luck trying to describe it to friends after you've seen it.

Re: Las Vegas Hotel Recommendations?

You can usually get a good price at MGM, and it is about smack in the middle of everything. I've stayed there 3/4 times I've been to Vegas.

If you are only with adults, try the Bellagio. If I remember right, its 21 and older only. I think it was a little pricer though. Very nice.

I don't gamble either, the MGM has one heck of a pool system were I spent many a' hours while others gambled.

OK, if you live Iowa...........Southwest has been doing packages for Vegas for ever. Most Iowegians go from Omaha for price and selection on SW.

Where I fly from SW is carrier of choice........when clones play UNLV ('99) darn near everyone I talked to at game was on SW with a Vegas package.

Re: Las Vegas Hotel Recommendations?

Allegiant has a special right now - buy one airfare and hotel stay and get the second airfare free. We're staying at Harrah's - great location, good hotel, not too expensive.
