Let's just say I enjoyed it much more than those guys. Too bad he'll be solo tomorrow. No rip on Chris, but I enjoy the two-man format much more than just one guy going off on his own (see: the former Jon Miller Show).

His point about the best high school players in a large state beating Iowa wasn't outrageous at all. The best basketball players can go straight from high school to the NBA, and oftentimes there are high school players who are as good, or better than many current college players, unlike in football. Iowa might be that bad right now.

He certainly proved that, contrary to a lot of dolts on this board, that not everyone can do this and do it well. I'll leave my opinion at that. However, I think it's pretty certain that soon Deace will be heading back to the afternoon only and Chris will be joining JM in the morning full time good, bad, or otherwise.

Apparently he didn't listen yesterday when Chris was basically mixing the Kool-Aid for iowa.

Another case of "it's not what you say, but the colors you wear". JDM gets that here all the time.

I love the stats the one guy put up comparing the two basketball programs. Anyone who follows college basketball can tell you who has the better program right now. Then, as a Hawkeye usually does, he says something like "I won't even bring up wrestling." Is it ingrained into an Iowa fan's personallity to be a D-Bag?

I wouldn't go so far as to say he was mixing the koolaid, but I agree with you. I thought he did a pretty decent job. I thought he was very good with Miller.

I'm totally fine with him and Miller. We've never really had a true Cyclone advocate on high profile radio. Sorry Deace, I don't mean it in an "Aryan Clone" kind of way. Williams is an ISU first and foremost, and always has been. Deace cheered for ISU because it was profitable, and his first love is Michigan. That's fine, and I won't hold it against the guy, but Williams/Miller is definitely a true Cyclone-Hawkeye show.

It will be interesting to listen to Chris without Deace walking all over him and interrupting to tell the same "Iowa basketball should be on Nick at Nite" joke 20 times. We heard you the first time Steve, and it was somewhat funny then. But it got old after the third or fourth time.

And if Chris was as bad as some (on both sides) are saying, it'll be just as unlistenable as Cotlar's show was. Bad radio is bad radio, regardless of where the host's affiliations lie.

Agree completely.

That being said, I think Miller and Deace work so well together that they should continue to work together. Surely they could find someone else to pair with Williams.

Unfortunately (and unfairly) I don't think tomorrow is going to be all that entertaining. It's an impossible task (remember Miller working by himself).

That thread on HN is exactly the same as threads I've read here ripping on Jon Miller - just about a different guy from the opposite angle. Otherwise, absolutely no different.

Anyway, I think Chris has been doing a great job...both about ISU and Iowa.

FWIW, loved the show last week when it was Chris/Jon. IMO, a really good combo. Two people that actually have a dog in the fight and literally care about local sports.

I didn't think Chris was that bad. It's not like he's been doing this anywhere near as long as Deace and Miller have. Part of why Cotlar's show sucked was that it was just him, and he went off about things that no one really cares about that much (Drake basketball). I think Chris and Miller would have a lot of potential. I really don't mind Jon at all, I just think when it's him and Deace it can turn into the Big 10 hour much too quick. With Williams this won't happen. Sure, Jon's a huge homer sometimes, but that's part of his job. It's entertaining to hear someone take stances that you totally don't agree with (when they aren't being offensive about it) and that's half the fun with Jon. I think once Chris finds himself as a radio guy a little more, and gets a little more smart *** with those guys, it could be pretty good.

I agree. Williams and Hassel maybe? Just an idea... There's two young guys with dogs on each side of the fight.

Well, at the very least he was bringing up all the reasons WHY iowa should get a BCS bid - and WHY kf should be campaigning for them.
