looking at your tv's manual, i see that there are 2 coax inputs on the back, one for cable, one for antenna, make sure the coax is plugged into the cable.

Here is how it works on my sony: Tv is on cable input, on the remote select menu, select channel, there should be an option that says cable - make sure that is on. This should work.

It was plugged into the cable coax, but through an older vcr. I plugged it directly into the tv, and I'm testing it to see if it works..
I have no idea if it will make a difference.

That ought to do it. I think running it through the VCR, in effect, nullifies the HD channels.

Call your cable company or Sony.

cable company wont help you most likely. Clear QAM is almost 100% unsupported by the cable cos. They prefer you to have a cable box, and if not that, a cable card.

Re: HD Channels on HDTV HELP!!

I had that same problem. Heres what i did. I have mediacom, and when i got my cable they hooked up a digital cable box. This doesn't give you HD however. I wanted to figure out how to get this HD. After flipping through the channels, i got HD channels in the 800's. The only problem was they didnt come in. So i found out you have to go to mediacom and get an HD cable box. If you already have a normal cable box, the HD one is free. Just hook it up and you will get HD!!!
(Not only did i get HD, but I also picked up some other channels that you would usually have to pay for, such as ESPN U, and Fox College Sports.
    See if that works

This tv obviously doesn't have a quam tuner which u need to pick up these hd channels. Your other tv does thats why it gets them and the other doesn't.

If he's getting the digital music channels, i think he's getting the qam channels, just not the hd ones.

I found out my TV doesn't have a QAM tuner. What can I get to pick up the HD signal besides a cable box (I don't want the extra fee)?

Either get a cable box or buy a new tv.
