Need Blackberry Help *sigh*
Arg. Need bb IT help - not sure if going back to store will just frustrate me or if it's something that a fellow CFer can assist with in a snap.
New bb driving me nuts. I hooked it up to my work email account via web-based Outlook, but how do I get my Outlook calendar and contacts to sync with the bb? I added it as a calendar, but nothing comes through to the bb. Somehow I guess I also told it to sync with the facebook calendar, and well, I'd really like to kill that decision.
And, I now have two message icons - when I added the work account it added another icon, and the emails are going to both. What the heck?!

You cant wirelessly sync those items without a blackberry server.
Youll have to use your desktop manager for calendar and contacts.
You can remove the facebook calendar portion by going into your calendar and then options. Although I think in Facebook/Options there is a check box for calendar and such as well.

You can hide one of the email accounts and just use the messages icon.

Everyone else (at work) uses Verizon. I'm a US Cellular customer. The IT guys seem to be pondering whether I can get on the server because I have a different service provider. Thus, we added my email via the we-based Outlook Express. Is this a legitimate question/concern, or are they yanking my leg?
(Please excuse my questioning of the IT guys. Im not often impressed by the IT folks - I usually can muddle my way through something more efficiently than they can)

It sounds like you have OWA at your office. You probably have Exchange Airsync. Just get an iPhone or Droid and use the Exchange Sync option; it will do email, calendar, and contacts. No messing with BES or BIS or anything else.
You'll want to switch to Verizon or ATT in the process:)

Your work must not lock down their email very well because there is no way you'd get far trying to do this where I work at. We have some strict email policies in place on top of local hardware policies that would likely block the BB to begin with if you aren't a member of our AD group for Blackberry users. Even if it didn't block your BB you'd still have to be added to our BES and someone from the IT group install the Desktop Manager software needed to sync.

Ahhhhh, welcome to state government.
Switching away from US Cellular is not an option. Let's just says V and I had a big parting of the Red Sea after they fried my phone while trying to update it and then wouldn't replace it... long story. Financially, it's a better deal to join lines with husband on one account with USC.
So - can I sync contacts with computer via cable provided in bb box?
