Wednesday morning road/driving conditions
Thought I would start a thread for those that HAVE to drive today. If you could share what roads you used in the metro, how they were, and if there are any that are impossible. Might help other folks weighing their decision to head out today.
Looks like the weather people were dead on with this one!

I380 in Cedar Rapids has about 5 inches of snow on it, with drifts.

Don't know about 1rst ave, but Blairsferry was drifting over. I was going to drive my wife to work (she works as a nurse in Iowa City). We turned around at the 32nd street exit and went home. If you don't have to go, don't.
Also, our round trip last about 25 minutes. The wind probably doubled in the time we were out.

Re: Wednesday morning road/driving conditions
Here in Johnston:
Across the street from me a brand new Ford F150 extended cab 4x4 has pulled out of his garage and is now stuck in his driveway. He looks very cold shoveling.

Re: Wednesday morning road/driving conditions
That is near Grinnell according to kcci.
I decided since my office is closed, there is no point in shoveling until late this afternoon when the winds have slowed. Good thing we have leftovers, christmas cookies, and egg nog!

Re: Wednesday morning road/driving conditions
Sheriffs were not letting people onto 30 from Nevada earlier this morning. I think they're letting people on now.
Sounds like I-35 is closed for a stretch north of Ankeny.
