    Yes.

We had Songs for the Deaf cranked during the NDSU tailgate. Not that Queens of the Stone Age are obscure or anything but more than few peole stopped by to listen for a bit and talk trash to the NDSU fans surrounding us.

Bought the new Muse and Them Crooked Vultures for the hub for Christmas. He listens to 99x online at work and comes home with a lot of new bands for me to check out.

Radio on this (east) side of the state suuuucks.

I blast about half that album in my tailgate mix.

IMO, it's no coincidence that the two best albums Josh Homme has put out were done with Dave Grohl on drums.
In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection.

Word. I kind of like it that way because it allows me to enjoy J-5, Talib, Mos Def, ATCQ, Atmosphere, Brother Ali, Jean Gray and the like without having to hear my least favorite song on any of their albums get completely mutilated by being overplayed on the radio.

Now that MBB is back, do we still have to pretend that WBB matters?

Only reason I've ever start listening to them was because I heard them on Rock Band. I've picked up a few new songs on Rock Band like Nightmare by Crooked X.

Ben Nichols has such a cool voice and it goes great with thier music. What's your favorite song off of this album? I think "What are you willing to lose" and "Sounds of the City" are my two favorite songs this year. On the other hand, I can't stand that 6's and 7's song.

I LOVE "6s and 7s". I'm guessing from your other picks that you come at Lucero from more of a punk based background, which is probably why you love Ben's voice so much, and don't like "6s and 7s", as it's easily the most southern rock song on the album. "What Are You Willing to Lose" is a great song, but I think my favorites are "The Devil and Maggie Chascarillo" and "Hey Darlin, Do You Gamble?", but the whole album is great. I love how they throw Skynyrd, Black Flag, and Van Morrison into a blender. Do you have any of their other stuff? One of my favorite bands.

Yep, definately coming at them from the punk side. I started on the album that was released before 1372 at the recommendation from a friend but didn't really like it. Tried this out because it got such a good review on the site that I get my music news from. I've also heard "Tennessee" and thought it was alright. I'll get more into them in the near future since I haven't had the time lately since October and early November had so many new releases.

You definately see them different than I do w/ Skynyrd and Van Morrison. I saw them as a mix of Springseen, The Hold Steady, and The Gaslight Anthem.

    Re: Albums of the year...

    In no certain order YET:

    Isis-Wavering Radiant
    DMB- Big Whiskey
    John Mayer- Battle Studies
    Common- Universal Mind Control
    Dead Weather- Horehound
    Pearl Jam- Backspacer
    Jay Z- The Blueprint 3
U2-No Line on the Horizon (real surprised I havent seen this up here yet)
    Blackroc-S/T
Alice in Chains- Black Gives Way to Blue
The Dream- Love vs Money (my guilty pleasure)

At first I really liked the sounds of Them Crooked Vultures, but after about a week or two of listening, I just got tired of them. A lot of repetition and not a ton of creativity. A lot of it sounds too "safe", no one really went out of their comfort zone much.

I really liked the Muse album (never been a fan of them), then slowly, I found myself having urges to listen to more Queen and I realized why. Muse is nothing more than a combination of a ****** Queen cover band sprinkled with a bit of the Killers. On top of all of this, they are trying much too hard to be "deeper" than they really are.

Street Sweeper was a fun album, but the same exact sound as everything else Morello has done before.

Chevelle might get my honorable mention.
