    For me, it's a little less mainstream, and pretty much narrowed down to a pair of albums:

    Elliott Smith - Figure 8 (I'd say this is better than A Basement on the Hill because it wasn't, y'know, posthumously edited and finished)
    Silverchair - Diorama (There is just so much stuff on this album, and it fits together so nicely)

    Elephant gets alot of hype, and deservingly so, but I think De Stijl is their best album.

    Also, I can't believe we have gone this far and haven't mentioned "The Battle of Los Angeles" by RATM. I am a huge RATM homer, but that is a great...great album.

    Edit: Battle of Los Angeles came out in 1999, nevermind.

    It's hard for me to pick out my favorite White Stripes album so I'm more inclined to look at the songs I listen to most and very few of them are on De Stijl. I like some of them just not my favorites.
