Wireless TV options

My brother is looking to put a small TV in the kitchen for his wife, in a perfect world they'd like to be able to play movies from their laptop sent to this TV and better yet, from their DirecTV box.

I don't think the technology is there yet to send wireless from a DirecTV box to another set, but thought there would be options for them to send from their PC to a TV. I have not kept up on the newer technology options with wireless TV (if such exists) and wanted to hear from those that may be using it or have followed that advancement.

It's possible to hook the apple tv device to your tv, and load it wirelessly, but strict wireless sending of television is still not well developed as far as I've seen.

might be able to work something out using a slingbox/slingcatcher as well, but none of this is cheap.

with a ps3, you could stream movies from your pc to your tv.

Wirelessly?

your ps3 would be connected to your tv, but as long as the ps3 and pc were both connected to the same network, you could stream between the two.

At this point, I think the best possible solution is nothing more than a laptop sitting in the kitchen connecting to a Slingbox over a wireless Internet connection. With the Slingbox, you could connect to anything (DirecTV receiver, DVD player, etc.).

Actually, it's a VERY good picture when done over a local area network. The drawback is the laptop sitting in the kitchen, but it's not very expensive assuming they already have a wireless Internet connection in their home.

thats not a bad idea.. or instead of looking at a laptop, you could use one of those all in one pcs.
