Will Mediacom lower their rates w/o Sinclair?
Marc Hansen's colunn about the latest Mediacom/Sinclair dispute overlooked one thing.
Here it is: "Whatever happens, consumers lose. If Sinclair gets the money it wants, Mediacom raises your cable bill. If Sinclair doesn't get the money it wants, the customer pays the same for less".
If Sinclair doesn't get the money it wants, why would customers pay the same? Not only are they getting less, but Mediacom's costs will decrease, since they won't be paying Sinclair anything. If they have to pass on any increase in costs in the form of higher cable bills, why can't they also pass on a decrease in costs in the form of lower cable bills? And why doesn't Hansen recognize this???
Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good. Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better. Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step. My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk,superdorf, clones_jer. That is all. -

Re: Will Mediacom lower their rates w/o Sinclair?
What's sinclair charging mediacom? 2 cents/month per person?
If I were you I'd fully expect to see that reflected on your next bill, if it does get dropped

If I were you I'd fully expect to see that reflected on your next bill, if it does get dropped I have heard mediacom is paying between 2-4 cents per subscriber and that sinclair is seeking between 8 and 12 cents per for the increase.

I really would like to see mediacom do good because I like alternatives but they just don't compete very well.
