For your specific location I would advise against laying the salt, your far enough east it should warm above freezing tonight into tomorrow that the ice should melt/be washed off. The only reason to lay it down now is if there was a pressing need to access the units the afternoon and evening. If the locations was more to the north or west it'd be a harder call
We are never fully occupied on average over 100 move in/outs a month. Not to mention one of our locations had 3 foot of water in the units a year and a half ago.
